Our Mission and Vision

Concern for Animals was founded in 1980 by Ann Albohn and Joyce Pearce. The two ladies planned a meeting for people who were concerned about the number of animals being euthanized and how it was being done. There was standing room only inside the building, with people to spare outside. A yellow pad was circulated around the room and the first membership list of Concern for Animals was created. With many hours of serious discussion, debating, conversation and planning, eventually, the method of euthanasia was changed to a more humane medical process. The organization has been in continuous operations since its inception.

The CFA Mission

The CFA mission, as stated in the Articles of Incorporation, is to promote the welfare of animals, especially domestic animals and pet stock, including land and sea mammals, fish, birds, and reptiles, in the streets and other public places, on private properties where mistreatment of said animals becomes obvious, in municipally and other governmentally run confinement facilities, in privately run confinement facilities and or in the wilds; to engage in education and promotional information distribution to the general public for the betterment of said animal kind, to raise and distribute funds for effectuating these purposes in any manner allowed by the laws of the State of Washington and the United States, including the funding or partial funding of a spay/neuter program for animals.

We are a non-profit, charitable organization, 501(c)(3). We rely on membership dues, donations, grants, estate bequests, and many fund raising projects to support our program to help the animals. All donations are tax deductible and appreciated. Many of our members volunteer with fundraising and the adoption program. Our membership and services include Thurston, Lewis, and Mason Counties.

Our Vision

For the last 30 years, Concern for Animals has helped thousands of animals in need by providing a variety of veterinary services.

Our goal is to build a non-profit low cost spay/neuter and emergency services clinic and a no kill adoption center. If you are concerned about animals and would like to help, either give a donation or become a member by filling out the membership form and sending it in.
